Giant Chelonian -- The Leatherback Turtle
by: Shelly

Hello Alicia,

What a great question!

There are hundreds of kinds of turtles, terrapins and tortoises. Some adults are smaller than a baby's hand. Others grow to enormous size.

The very biggest is the leatherback turtle. It can weigh 1 ton (907 kg) and measure 7' (2 m) long.

The leatherback turtle is amazing and I am collecting information so I can write a whole section about it. If you bookmark this site or sign up for the RSS feed on my blog page, you can follow the story. Here is the first page I've done about an incredible journey.
