Shelly Hi there! I'm Shelly the tortoise.
A Cute, Smart SBI! Tortoise
I'm cute and I'm smart and I'm rare.
I make a great mascot for SiteSell
'Cause I can still beat any hare.
You can sing this to the tune of
My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean.
My Uncle Ken Evoy, the owner of SiteSell and the brains behind Solo Build It!, wanted to show that he appreciated his clients. So he commissioned a batch of little tortoises to give to SBIers. (That's what Solo Build It! -- SBI! -- Web masters call themselves.)
We are all beautiful pewter tortoises. We came from spartapewter.com
. After we met Uncle Ken and the big ottoman tortoise at his house, we traveled all over the world to our new homes.
I live with a human who has two SBI! Web sites. On one, she shows off about what a good editor she is.
For a while I thought I'd be an editor, too. I even got some glasses. But I found out that being an editor is hard work and I'm not as good as my human.
I still like to wear my glasses sometimes, though. I put them on if people start to show off. I look over the glasses and those people back right off.
My human is (Sh-sh-sh) older, if you know what I mean.
Sometimes ladies of a certain age put on fancy red hats and purple clothes and go out to have fun. My human does that for real. But she also does it on her other Web site.
For a while I thought I'd be an investigator like she is. I whined and bothered her until she made me a nifty red hat. It even has a purple flower just like hers.
I think she likes me 'cause she also made me a fancy purple scarf for the cold days.
In the end, I decided to just be myself.
I'm a tortoise with a heritage steeped in e-commerce. My Uncle Ken has helped thousands of people to build Web sites. I'm learning to do that, too. This is my first site.
Even though I have such a famous uncle, I still have to learn all the nitty gritty of how to build a Web site.
It's all in the Action Guide
. I've been reading it and I understand how the way of the SBI! tortoise lets humans and even real tortoises like me build solid Web businesses.
So that's my story so far.
Right now my site is new. But it will grow. You can bookmark it and come back from time to time to see how I'm doing.
In the meantime, keep it slow and steady.
