African Spur Thigh Feces

When i rinse my spur thigh tortoise she usually excretes. The last two times however, before her excriment she let out some whitish stuff....Should i worry? Her substrate is pallets and some sand. Does the sand have to with it?

Spur Thighed Diarrhea

I've only had my African Spur Thighed for a few months but presume it is about 5 years old. I got it from a friend who found it wandering on her many acre property. In any case my AST excreted a white, milky substance about a week ago. Since that day he has been rather lethargic, not venturing out and staying in the area of the yard it sleeps in. Today while feeding it, it excreted a slightly clear, light brown watery substance. Is my tortoise ill, and is this something I should worry about?

No worries, most tortoises do this many times when they excrete, they are releasing excess protein from their diet, as I understand if they don't do this is could be something to worry about. Every food source has some protein in it.
