white cloud in RES eye
by: Anonymous

If you are not too late already, you need vitamin A.

But the best thing at this point is to take this animal to the vet. If that cloud become hard, surgery is needed.

Turtles can go blind from this condition and then they need to be hand fed because they find their food visually.

I hope you get the help you need.

Eye Problem
by: Vinayaka

Eye problem would appear either due to lack of vitamin A or water has become dirty or could be other reasons also.

If there is a good supply of UVB light or direct exposure to sun light then the cause cannot be due to this. The second deduction may be you dont have a filter installed. Filter is very much necessary to keep the habitat clean. Try changing the water.

If your turtle has become week and stopped eating. Please take him to Vet. If you dont have any vet, then you have to risk yourself by trying some alternatives. Take your turtle out the tank and keep it inside some small bowl having little water so that turtle can relax without moving to search for oxygen.

Put some antifungus drops (1 to 2 drops) available in local pet store. Put a pinch of salt as well (very less). This will help turtle to stop having infected any further. Keep it in observation for a week. After a week your turtle should have his eye pus drying out. Then apply some eye drops (human baby eye drops is OK) to his eye..... (For these steps, see the link : http://www.totallytortoise.com/my-turtle-has-white-film-sitting-in-its-right-eye.html)

The white substance in eye would be the pus formed which is very common in turtles. Make sure you expose him to sunlight or supply UVB light often to improve his health in terms of adequate vitamin A.

Semi Circle
by: Vinayaka

Your turtle is healthy as long as....
1. It doesn't sleep/bask for day long
2. It's appetite towards food is healthy
3. It doesn't close its eye often during swimming
4. It's senses are responding well

Make sure your tank has a comfortable basking zone

Yes. I am Indian. I own 3 turtles. 2 of baby RES and the other is 1.5 years old. I presume you are Indian too. I got to know about "totallytortoise.com" while google-ing solution for one of my turtle which had serious eye problem. And this site helped me lot to drive towards fixing that. Now my turtle is happy and so am I.

All the best for your turtle.

SHELL PROBLEM
by: Vinayaka

I believe that its more likely that the water may be chlorinated or you may have applied too much medicine to water. Change the water in tank. Also take some cod liver oil into cotton and gently rub it over the shell and again clean the shell with watered cotton to take out oil before you leave it back into tank. The white thing what you describe may the salt deposits absorbed from the water. Also they shed the skin often and the shedding skin looks white and it will fall itself.
