I have Two baby turtles. The bigger one that has been real active and eating is now just sleeping and the other is on his back. They were hugging with there necks lastnight. I thought he was dead this morning but I touched him and his eyes are open. Is he about to dye. are they to young to mate? They are only probably 2 to 4 weeks old.

A turtle is not a cheap pet. It needs special equipment and if it gets sick, it will need a vet.

I do not recommend that you get a turtle until you have investigated all the costs. You can use the calculator on the blog on this site to help you figure out the costs.

Keep it slow and steady.

Baby Turtles
by: Susan

Yes, the baby turtles where I go, also pile on top of each other. I think they are trying to stay warm. So Besides UVB light to mimic the sun, they need lots of UVA warmth to stay warm, and it should reach upper 80's, low 90's in temp where they bask. Ie floating dock, and water should also be in the upper 70's, low 80's for babies...so they don't get cold, and they will then eat, their pellets (fortified with calcium) and other needed vitamins, ie A for eye health and B vitamin's for over all health... and the UVB light will help this process.
Hope this helps...sincerely, Susan.

Definitely too young to mate.

Some turtles like to bask in a pile.

Be sure they have enough UVB light and warmth.
