Broke box turtle shell

My dog got hold of a box turtle, when I got the turtle from the dog its shell was broke off around the head area and it bleeding. It is not a big part that is broke. I washed the turtle off and was wondering if it die because of the broke shell?

At the very least, keep an eye on your pet.

Better would be to make a trip to the vet.

The danger is probably infection. Not all tortoises or turtles die from small breaks in theris shells, but their shell is part of their skeleton, so a break is not a good hting.
