by Janice
(Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia)

recently I just adopted a 2 years old turtle adn it was quite active at the frist place, like for few months. After few months later which was yesterdya, it's behind legs suddenly not moving at all and it seems like does not have any appetize to eat. What is the real problem? Is it a kind of disease which turtle might face or just digestive problems? What should i do for the next step? A big thanks here :)

Hai Anynomous and Shelly, Thank you very much for the advices and I am really appreciate it!!! I felt so relieved that at least this few days, my turtle has eaten something, but just a bit. Better than eat nothing. Once again, thanks for the advices and i will try it to save my little one! ^^

Medications for tortoises
by: Shelly

Even if the vets in your area, you still need to see one for medication. A reputable pharmacist will want to see that a medical practitioner has prescribed the medication.

Medicines are powerful drugs and can kill as well as heal. Your pet is probably much smaller than you are. That means that there is much less room for error in dosage.

Just as you should not take drugs prescribed for another person, your pet should not be taking drugs prescribed for someone else's pet.

A vet who deal with dogs and cats will still have access to information about anatomy and appropriate medications for a tortoise or turtle. A good vet will ask someone more knowledgeable for help.

It is best, of course, to find a vet with experience with reptiles, but any vet is better than no vet.

Keep it slow and steady.

Turtle can't move legs
by: Lydia

My turtle had the same symptoms. I took him to the doctor and after xrays and blood tests,I found out he has an infection and inflammation and low calcium levels . He is on antibiotics, calcium, anti-inflamatory medicine. The doctor also feed him through a tube today. It has been 3 days and he is starting to feel better and his back legs are moving a little, Best to take your pet to the Vet.Good luck!
