Cracked Tortoise Shell
by: Shelly

The cracked shell of your sulcata tortoise needs medical attention. Any time there is an opening into the body cavity, you need to be sure that it has been thoroughly cleaned. With the shell in the way, an internal infection can be difficult to treat if one develops.

In addition, a vet will know whether special treatment is needed to repair the shell. Often it needs reconstructing.

Do take your animal to a vet asap.

Keep it slow and steady.

PS Keep us posted on the progress of your animal.
