do female tortoises in wild remain with eggs until hatched

by newby
(croatia)

hi. a wild hermann tortoise has inhabited our garden here in Croatia. She just laid 2+ eggs. She still appears agitated as if she wants to get away. Do tortoises remain with their eggs until hatched or is she wanting to move on? Since these are wild tortoises, should I do anything with the eggs?

Tortoise eggs

No, the female will not stay with the eggs.

If you want to do something, just protect the eggs. The best thing would be to contact tortoise rescue agencies near you and ask them for specific suggestions.

Keep it slow and steady.
