Does a tortoise leave its shell?

I have heard that when a tortoise is turned upside down it will exit its shell, is this true?

no because a turtles insides are all together and stuck in there no matter what, unless the shell is cracked but even if it is cracked its not like its just the shell cracked and all the insides has skin around it. it is almost really hard to explain but i promice you that a turtles CANNOT come out of it shell...upside down or not!

No, a tortoise or a turtle does not leave its shell when it's upside down. The shell is part of its skeleton. It NEVER leaves its shell!
