First Pet Ever

I leave in Mumbai.

My frnd Gift me a Star Tortise. Its just been 2days I have got him. Please guide me how to take care of him in terms or food, water, etc.,
Routine of my Tortlise:
As he wakes in the morng, i put him in a plate n pour some water. After he finishes drinking the water n leave him in the main hall.
I have bought a big basket type thing wic i called Tortoise house. I keep some food for him like, cucumber or lady finger. Before leave for Work I giv him some water to drink. I come back in the evening & remove him from the Tortoise house & give him some water to drink later leave him in the house.

MY QUESTIONS:
1) What should be done in the morng when he wakes.
2) Suggest me the food for him & how many times in a day does he needs food / water.
3) Should I keep him in warm water in the morng.
4) Planning to bring green grass for him.
5) Which calcium should I buy for him?

Sorry for asking so many questions.

Care of Indian Star Tortoise

The thing I am worried about is the lack of direct sunlight for your tortoise. The UVB rays from the sun (or a basking lamp) help the tortoise to metabolize calcium. The tortoise needs that to live. Without it, his shell will soften until he dies. It will not be a pleasant death.
