fussy sulcata

Hi my sulcata tortoise i have had for about a month and half but all he/ she will eat is little gem lettuce a little bit of water cress but that's it. I have tried it on grass from garden and rocket but it won't even try to eat anything else.Any suggestions bout how i can get him or her to try and eat something more healthy? He/she is growing nicely and the shell is not soft, the setup is an open air cage not wooden viv with hot spot of 100 degrees and 80 degrees in cool end he seems very happy and has bath once a week can you please let me know how i can get him/her to eat more healthy stuff thankyou. What do parents do with kids who say they won't eat anything but cookies?

They take the cookies away and give only good food. No one who is healthy will actually starve if there is good food around. Give variety, but only the healthiest variety you can find. Leave out the things your tortoise thinks it HAS to have.Don't panic if it goes for a while without eating much. It is just sulking.

That's my opinion, anyway.

If you try this and it makes you too nervous, you can take your pet to the vet to be sure there is no physical problem. If the problem is who is the boss, you'll have to decide it is you so your pet can stay healthy.

Keep it slow and steady.
