I have had the exact problem. Except I go through bulbs every 10 days instead. When I was talking to a fellow in the pet store about it he said it is because of no reostate on the lamp itself.
Since spending the money on a reostated lamp my bulb continues to glow. The reostate lamp was way less than one bulb.

Check what wattage you are using and is it appropriate for the lamp that you are using. Make sure both the lamp and the holder are supported for heating purposes. Also, it would be a good idea to plug the lamp into a safety strip so if the power goes out or something happens, the lamp will not blow.
