Buying A Healthy Mud Turtle
by: Shelly

Nose and eyes should be clear and clean. Be sure both eyes open. No swelling around eyes.

Be sure the ears are not swollen. Don't know where the ears are? See turtle and tortoise ears here.

The tail should be dry and clean.

The shell should be hard on top and bottom. No soft spots.

When it's warm, your turtle should be able to walk freely, no shell-dragging.

Keep it slow and steady.
