Helped a wild painted turtle that got hit by a car.

Today me and my boyfriend were going to the park to take our dogs for a walk. There was a big painted turtle crossing the road and I told my boyfriend to watch out. We did not hit him, but the car behind us hit him on purpose we pulled over and I pick him up.

He's skin on his back feet got a little ripped up and his tail. He also has a crack were blood was coming out, but nothing to serious I got the bleeding to stop. Its about a little over an 1" its right on his tail the crack on his shell. I went to petsmart and got him some vitashell and other things to help heal it. I'm going to keep him for about a month until I know hes well enough to be release back into the wild.

Do you think that could of cause any other serious damages? I'm taking him to the vet on monday to double check.

Hi, sorry to here that, you sound like a very caring person. Any wound can be susceptible to infection, and I do not think petsmart has what you would need. I agree with the vet as they would access better and be able to give you the proper medication and advice on care while nursing him back to health.....The best of luck for you and the little guy..sincerely, Susan.
