Hermann tortoise climbing sides of box

I have a 1 year old Hermanns tortoise which I bought recently, he is being kept in a wooden tortoise box inside and keeps trying to climb up the side of the box in the corner where his basking lamp is! What can I do to stop this as he keeps flipping onto his back

Hi it may be that your tortoise is too cold normally they reach up to the lamp to keep warm. You may need to adjust the temperature in his enclosure. My russian sometimes does this first thing in the morning when she is warming up. I dont think its anything to worry about. I bought a thermometer and that helps regulate the temperature. Hope this helps.
