HOW MUCH SLEEP DO HORSEFILED TORTOISES REQUIRE

by G LEWIS
(ANDOVER)

We have just bought 2 9 month old horsefield tortoise having done some research so we knew what type of housing food etc we would need however we cannot find an answer as to how much sleep they require. At the momment they seem to sleep almost 18 hrs a day but are very active when they are awake and seem to be in good health. Should we just let them sleep?

tortoises r much like humans. there living animals and they have there own personality's , so they could just be lazy. but think about it if you had no job and food and water given to you without u having to go n get it , no tv or anything would you be awake or asleep more often??
also they may just wear them selves out by been so active while awake
if they eat drink n move fine I'll say theres not health issues
