I have a box turtle who has one closed eye

I have a box turtle who's right eye remains closed. At first both eyes were this way. I gently used a Q-tip with warm water on them and the left eye opened up but not the right. What could be the cause of this and what can I do for him?

If eyes or eye is closed it is an indication that the turtle is not getting enough Vitamin A in his/her diet..should include dark leafy vegetables and yellow will provide enough vitamin A in the diet..There are lots of good web sites out there on Box turtles and requirements...I hope this helps, take care, sincerely, Susan.
