Im not sure what sex both my tortoises are

hi i have a red footed tortoise which i have been told is a male but im not sure, also i have just recently bought what i think is a horsefield and then got told it was a female could you please tell me the sex of them as i dont want them breeding i have seperated them now as the one which i thought was a female was trying to mate with the one which i was told was a male. HELP!! thank you
