Is he dead or Hibernating?

by Adele Oldroyd

Hi,

My tortoise is only 3 years old. The children noticed that it was not moving and when thy took him out of the cage he was a stiff. His head is not inside his shell nor are any other parts of his body. So i am not sure if he is dead or is he hibernating.
Please can you help.

A hibernating tortoise pulls in its head, tail, and legs. It would also have stopped eating some time before beginning its hibernation. It doesn't sound good for yours.

The final word would go to a vet.
