how do i check if my star tortoise is dead? it has not eaten since a week n is not moving at all...also his eyes hav gone inside....and what is he life span of a star tortoise?
Your tortoise is very sick and MUST see a veterinarian. There are so many things that could be wrong that there is not enough space to list them all, and even if I did, it would not help because we cannot be sure what the problem is. Only a veterinarian can say for sure what is happening.

I am sorry for giving such a late response, but my pet was dead and we came to know this due to the foul smell coming from his body. Also it was 52 years old. Thank you so much for helping me out.

If you touch a live tortoise's foot or leg, there will be a reaction. If there is no reaction, your animal is probably dead.
If it is not dead, it needs treatment for its eyes.
The life span of an Indian star tortoise is about 30 years.
