Mo theTurtle Shell lifting

My son's turtle's shell appears to be lifting up in places.

Is this normal?

 Shedding scutes!

Honestly, to me it sounds as if he shedding his scutes, that is exactly how it happens. If you could post a pic though, I could say for sure!
