My new leopard tortoise wouldn't eat.

I got a leopard turtle 3 days ago and he hasn't eaten nor drank any water yet. Is this a normal behaviour until he gets used to the environment? when we first picked him up at the pet store he seemed very active, but after he got home he became extremely shy. Is there anything I could do about it?

It's usually better to keep one tortoise at a time.

I think my tortoise maybe lonely or afraid of the new environment. its the 4th day since i got him, and he still hasn't eaten. I saw him drinking yesterday though. Do you think it would be a good idea to buy another tortoise to accompany him?

Your tortoise may be very dehydrated, it needs to be soaked in shallow lukewarm water for about 20 minutes twice a week, as well as make sure he is warm enough in his enclosure. If they are too cold they will stop eating. Keep water level no higher then below his head when you soak him. They can not swim and too high of water will be dangerous, they would not be able to breathe.

I have two Leopard Tortoises and I find that they love spring mix lettuces and the top really leafy part of the Romaine. Mine also love thin slices of Zucchini. I also give mine sprinkles of calcium in a small separate dish from their food. Yours just may be lonely being separated from his other tortoise family.
