my torto

hi iam concerned about my tortoise. i bought him 5 days ago then he was living in a cage with hay however i have made him a open table and gave him sand and soil but now the problem is he have buried himself under the sand for 2 days, i dont think hes hibinating because the light has been on for 12 hours as it should be and he ate just before i dont know now whether to wake him please help
