I bought a spur thighed tortoise a few days ago, and im worried that it isn't eating. I was wondering if anyone could please let me know any reasons for this and what to do about it?? Thank you.
1. It is still adjusting to the environment and is feeling timid
2. It is not warm enough. Tortoises need heat to wake up their bodies. They cannot even metabolize some important elements like calcium without UVB rays (sunlight).
3. You may be offering food your tortoise doesn't eat. Your tortoise should have wild grasses that are free of pesticides or a hay that is low in protein.
