My tortoise's keep fighting and I think one is biting the others shell

I have two tortoise's one keeps biting the other ones shell should we seperate them now before it gets any worse.


They have lived together for 3 years + but recently they have started fighting with each other.

In the case of the box turtles, I think you could be seeing mating behaviors.

My eastern Box turtle who is 12 years old and is a male keeps biting the shell of my 6 year old female turtl. Why is this??

I would separate them. At the least, one of them in probably quite unhappy.

You didn't say which sort of tortoise you have. For some, a certain amount of aggression is a form of foreplay. But if one is getting injured, it's unlikely that you are seeing mating behaviors. I mention this just in case I'm wrong about what's gong on.
