If you don't know what has happened to your tortoise, take a stool sample to the vet. The vet might also want to see your tortoise.

Just continue to observe the turtles poop. Make sure he/she is getting lots of fiber by grazing on hays and grasses. If you see hay or grass in his 'black' poop, he is fine. However, if you are feeding him greens and treats, make sure you sprinkle vitamin powder on the food.
