Please Help My Red Eared Slider Turtle!

(canada)

My two year old red eared slider recently developed what looks like red bloody tumours in his eyelid. His eyeballs appear normal and he has no red dots anywhere else. He has not eaten in about a week and the last thing he ate was a frozen minnow. He does not seem to like being in the water, or come to us when we go near his tank like he usually does. He has been sleeping alot lately and these red dots are concerning me. Please contact me ASAP supcaitlin@hotmail.com! Please save Snatch!

Low Funds
by: Shelly

If you can't afford the medical treatment this animal needs, please take it to a turtle rescue center near you. They will probably want to keep the animal, but it will be taken care of.

Keep it slow and steady.

my turtle
by: caitlin

I called local vets but I am a college student and cant afford to take him to one. Sad, I know, but today I bought him a MUCH bigger tank because a friend of mine said their shell can stop growing and they suffocate inside it, so I am hoping the new tank will help him heal and grow. His eye tha burst open last night is not so bad, but he scratched at it and now has an open cut. His other eye however has a strange bump on it... I found him in a lake 3 years ago and he has been pretty well taken care of so I dont know what his issue is

Eye Problems
by: Shelly

I'm not sure what has caused the problem, but I can tell you that eye problems with turtles are very serious. I suggest you see a vet as soon as possible. The vet can do a physical examination and also ask you important questions that will tell you not only what is wrong, but how to cure the problem and how to prevent the problem another time.

Keep it slow and steady.

PS When you have your response from the vet, posting back here may help another turtle owner.
