What sort of tortoise is Franklin?

What sort of tortoise is Franklin?

My family and I live here in Oroville, CA. We've had our pet tortoise for about 6-7 years. His name is Franklin. His shell measures 12" in length and 8" in width. Please help us to identify our tortoise???

Miss Vang,

I think your tortoise is one of the Gopher tortoises (genus gopherus). However, i need more pics to properly identify the particular species.

A little bit of history would also help. Like where you got it, its temperament and similar information.
