Ran over turtle/tortoises

I am doing a report on turtles and tortoises getting ran over, and I would like to know what people can do if they see a turtle or tortoise get ran over, or if they do and what they should know about tortoises or turtles if they should pick them up and take them to a vet or just call a vet to come a look at it.
