i got my tortoise a month ago he's about 5y/o,and10"long. he's a dark color w/ orange markings. he's beautiful.

You can tell generally by the size, but once it's an adult, you an get an idea by how smooth the scutes are on the carapce (top shell). The shell wears down over time. The truth is, the only way to know for sure is to be ther when the tortoise hatches.
