Lighting
by: Shelly

The lighting is vital. It's as important as air. If you really can't provide the lighting, you will have another dead animal soon. Try to find someone who can care for this animal properly and give it a home where it will live.

Before you get any other animal, find out all you an about its needs and get only an animal you can provide for.

Keep it slow and steady.

Light
by: Shelly

You need proper UVB light. Without that, the turtle can't metabolize its food. That means it can eat, but get no nutrition from it. In this case, it is not getting enough calcium to keep its shell healthy. Here is a link to information about lights.
