rescued forest hingeback

my buddy was keeping horrible care of a forest hingeback so i rescued him...so i thought. i have his humidity way high anywhere between 70-90% temp between 90-73 day to night. waterfall with fogger and huge aquatic area for him to soak as they really like to keep moist. he bareley eats. occasionally some lettuce....once he tore apart a banana but his appetite has declined. i just put some smashed boiled egg in his bowl to see what happens as they are omniverous and need some protein but i don't know why he just really doesn't move. im using repti-bark and some eco-eaerth as substrate. he has two log hides...and i rarely put light on him(infrared only) as they do not like much uv. PLEASE HELP!!!

no parasites
by: sigepcannon

the slide culture came back with no trace of anything. How much should he be eating. his shell is approx 4 in. i put afew earthworms in there today with some fruit but nothing yet. he is in a glass terrarium which i realize is not great for a tortoise but i can't imagine running a waterfall and fogger in a wooden enclosure.

turtle parasites

I'm not clear whether the vet has found parasites or not. If so, the vet should be able to look up the treatment. I'm sorry I don't have specifics.

If it's not parasites, I'm not sure what else to suggest. It seems like you are doing what you can.

Best wishes.

troubled FOREST kinixys erosa (not to be confused )

i really want to help this lil bugger. he has strength when i try to move him...his legs have some pull. he just doesnt eat and i am willing...and have already spent a butload...pardon my lingo...on his habitat. i even caught snails in my garden for him and nada! if anyone asks why im feeding snails please don't respont to this as you are not familiar with this omnivorous species of semi-aquatic tortoise. tryin 15% protein....85% fruits and greens....rest junk just to see what he will take which is next to nothing. i go to bed and he's in the same spot when i wake up. I realize they are extremely prone to parasites. but these vets around here need to know what to treat him with. please let me know what it's called?

left a fecal sample but no results came back. if i were to treat this as if i were in the middle of nowhere (because nobody has any experience with this species) ho would i go about getting rid of parasites?

You might be dealing with parasites.

Do see a vet.
