Recently i have been taking my tortoise outside to play. He keeps eating little rocks i try to take them from him but he has swallowed a few of them. Is this safe and normal? Thanks
My vet told me that when a tortoise is eating rocks it usually means that there is something intestinal bothering them. Eating rocks is their way of saying "my tummy is bothering me". You might want to see a vet, possibly get an x-ray.

I have a red footed tortoise and he has been doing the same thing ! And trying to get them out of his mouth , well its quite the challenge . I hope someone comments on this and can give us an answer :)
