Russian Tortoise making weird noises and stretching upwards with mouth open

Hi there

I have a Russian Back Tortoise and over the past 3 days he has been stretching upwards with his mouth opening and closing and making really weird noises - sometimes like grunting, sometimes like squeaking and sometimes even like he's crying like a cat. His head goes right up as far as it can go. He has also been stomping around the room really strangely too - he lifts his whole body up as high as it will go then swings away over to the left on 3 legs then the same over to the right. He then slams himself onto the floor. His eyes look wet as well. The only different food we gave him was some sweetcorn, but I've saw lots of it in his poo, so he's probably passed all of that now.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Same symptoms as you describe.

Same symptoms as you describe. Just got him 3 days ago and he was crying alot stretching his neck drooling and water coming out of his eyes. I feel so bad but he passed away after 3 days. I think he had a respiratory problem or was impacted.

My baby sulcata makes squeaking noises and steretches his neck like that when he has something stuck in his throat, and also sometimes when he is having a hard time pooping. I would make sure your tortoise is getting plenty of water and maybe try giving him some sort of natural laxative like pumpkin. Maybe some of the corn is still giving him some trouble.
