Russian Trotoise Missing Feet

by T.C.

A neighbor just found a Russian tortoise. He is missing most of both of his front legs. His shell is ragged in the front. He has eaten a little and is responsive. We knocked on some doors, but have not found the owners yet. We are taking him to the vet tomorrow...Can this tortoise survive without front paws?

He looks around, has eaten and tries to walk...he can get around, pretty quickly. We have him in a box and he seems to be sleeping now. Does anyone have any idea what may have caused this type of damage?

Any information is helpful!

This will most likely be rat or other small rodent/animal damage.
