Sick Tortoise Sulcata

by Stacie
(Orefon)

I have a sick Sulcata that I need to give an oral antibiotic. I keep getting told that I need to put it in his food but the problem is that he does not have much of an appetite. If you have any tips you could share that would be awesome!

Thanks,
Stacie

I agree with Shelly. We encouraged ours by sprinkling into a few (organic)blueberries.

How To Give Oral Medicine To A Tortoise
by: Shelly

Normally, you should not give iceberg lettuce to a tortoise because it doesn't have much nutritional value. But it sometimes works as a way to get medicine into a tortoise.

Chop up some iceberg lettuce really fine. Sprinkle the lettuce with the medicine and offer it to your tortoise.

Don't overdo it with the iceberg lettuce. You don't want to create a habit that has him refusing good food later because he's developed a taste for iceberg lettuce.

Keep it slow and steady.

PS. Please post back to let us know how this works for you.
