Small Turtle - Eye Missing

Hello There -

I recently purchased 2 small turtles as a Christmas gift for my coworker. They are both about 3" - 3.5" long. When I brought them to work, we noticed that the one was missing an eye. I don't want to give him back just because of his eye but I don't know if he has any type of illness. He also has a little skin flap below his chin. What is your recommendation? I don't want to jeopardize the other one in the tank.
They are both swimming around and eating.

Thanks - Happy Holidays!
Dana

You are right to be concerned that one turtle can pass an illness on to the other.

It's always a good idea to have any new pet checked out by a vet as soon as possible. I would certainly recommend you do so as soon as possible. The vet will be able to tell you if any of the things you are noticing are life-threatening.

Keep it slow and steady.
