Squeaking

Today when I went to pull him out of his hide to eat/soak, he squeaked and kinda hissed at me? He is eating and moving around fine. Did I startle him? Was he mad?

he didn`t hiss at you it is the noise he makes when he pulls his head into his shell really quickly.
