Sulcata

My Sulcata does not seem to want to eat very much why is that? He was eating a head of romaine a day with kale and fruit. The last 2 days he is not eating very much.

Tortosie not eating
by: Shelly

First, be sure the temperature is high enough. A tortoise can't metabolize its food if it's chilly.

If the temperature is fine and the food is the same as it's always been, I suggest you see a vet. A tortoise can go a few days without food, but you don't want to ignore a change in behavior for too long.

Keep it slow and steady.

I only say spoiled because my three tortoguas are spoiled with nothing but greens. Haha, they don't touch the hay now. I have to mix it in their food to trick them.

But the ultimate Tort spoiling food, is watermelon. (once a month or so often)

Make sure you give them no citrus fruit. Also, spoiled baby desert tortoises will tend to only eat greens, which isn't that bad. But their diet should also consist of timothy hay, or other forms of grass.

If your tortoise is no eating that much, I would recommend trying other foods. I know my tortoises don't like kale nearly as much as they like bok choy.

Try getting them cilantro, bok choy, grated carrots, and the calcium powder WITH D3.
