To Fence the Pool?

We have a Sulcata tortoise that lives in our back yard. We have a short chicken-wire fence around the porch of our in-ground pool, but we want to know if this is necessary. Will he fall into the pool, or is he smart enough to avoid that?

You could probably fall into your pool under the right conditions. The difference is that you aren't wearing a heavy shell that would take you straight to the bottom.

I would fence the pool if it's deep enough to do damage to the sulcata who falls in.

Keep it slow and steady.
