To Tortoise or not to Tortoise?

I'm thinking of getting a tortoise as a pet, and it shall be the first time I have owned a reptile of any kind. I would like to know which would be the best breed to have, what/not to feed it, where it should be kept...etc... and just all the basic know how! If you could get back to me on my query, that would be great, thanks. From Charlotte123 xx

I would suggest a Russian Tortoise, they are the hardiest of all of the Tortoise's I own, they don't get very large and are relatively easy to take care of. Contact the Tortoise Trust website for all of the other details you need. there should be a tortoise rescue center in a area near you where you could adopt one that needs a home and they will also help you to set up a good home for him...
