How can you tell the age of a tortoise

The only way to tell for sure is to be there when the tortoise hatches.

Other than that, size can give you an idea. Each species is different, so no one can tell you exactly how old a tortoise is without more information.

You can NOT tell the age of a tortoise by counting the rings on its scutes.
