You should not use newspaper, when the tortoise does a wee the newspaper will get wet/damp (with the wee) and this can cause your tortoise skin/shell problems.

Hi I have been using straw for the last four years but have been told today that i shouldn't incase it gets in their eyes or nose. Instead it is better to use shredded newspaper. However make sure it can't touch the heat lamp as it could burn your tortoise or worst case start a fire x
