I have a california deserttortoise and she is acting odd she is laying quite flat with her leggs out flat onto the ground.can you tell me why she would be bahaving this way?
It is totally normal. They are absorbing heat and relax with their legs stretched out.

I have a Yucatan Box Turtle and it does the same thing when it is resting. It likes to find a cool place, usually moist and lay flat with legs sprawled. He is healthy, very active in morning, swims, eats, poops all good. I just notice he rests in the hottest part of the day.
