Tortoise skin fell off it's front leg?

Hello my Russian tortoise skin fell off it's hand while walking around my home. I didn't know what to do so I put him back in his cage. Idk if this is normal buy he could be hurt and idk if I should still take him out to the backyard or ket it heal first. Is normal for him?
