Turtle and Tortoise in same habitat?

by Laura
(Oracle, Arizona)

Hi - we have a 7 yr. old box turtle he's about 5" round and we have a 11 mo. old desert tortoise he's about 3" round. the turtle eats earthworms, greens and sometimes a bit of fruit and the tortoise eats, greens & minimal fruits. are we able to put this two critters into the same habitat with out a problem? we let the "play" together for about a hour and they did great. would this be a problem? thanks for your time and help.

Mixing Breeds
by: Shelly

It's not a good idea to mix breeds of turtles or tortoises. They have different immunities and are susceptible to different diseases.

Keep it slow and steady.
