turtle population density

by van
(yuma)

We have a pair of red eared sliders in an approximately 1,000 gallon pond in our back yard. Half of the pond is 36" deep and the other half is stepped gradually to the surface. Will more than a pair of turtles be happy in that sized pond. We think the two we have are male and female but somewhat young (2 years).

Red eared slider density

Each red eared slider turtle will need 10-20 gallons of water to be happy. Of course they will also all need places to bask and hide.
