Turtle Water???????

I just cleaned my turtle aqurium This is the second time I have put bran new filters in it and I make sure I do not over feed them, yet the water still turns dirty and starts foaming on the top. I even put clear water in there also it worked for a day but right back to being dirty. It has only been 3 days. I do not know what to do.

Turtle Water???????

Ok, first of all don't know how many turtles you have and the size of the tank and how deep the water is or temp of water, pump etc... Now I will tell you what I have, 15 month old male Map Turtle, 4 in shell.. he has been in a 65 gallon tank since last Christmas, has a large floating log, and the large dock, he has a UVA light over his log, as that is where he likes to bask, now over the dock on other side of tank, he has is UVB light which is a 10, has 12 -13 inches of water..has a heavy screened lid where lighting sits on top, his basking area is always kept up 80's lower 90's during day, and I change the bulb to a red bulb to keep mid to high 70's, water is between 76- 78 F.. I have a EHEIM canister to filter the water, and I do daily water changes, take out a pitcher, and I add one or two back, depending on evaporation, and I treat the water and also had some calcium from cuttle bone in the water, he swims with 6 very small, clean guppy like fish...they seem to all do well..I vac out the gravel once a week, and scoop out as much as I can daily..I give him 3-4 small pellets in morning and same late in the afternoon, he is hand fed, and then he waits for his treat, romaine lettuce leaf and a thin slice of English cucumber, he loves to be stroked and is bright eyed and has a very hard shell...he gets fortified calcium pellets..and I stick to that routine, and it seems to work........I hope that gives you something to compare too.. take care, Susan...
