unwell tortoise????

hi, i have a tortoise that is 5 yrs old and has been perfectly healthy upto a week ago.

he isnt eating or drinking, and im putting him in reptoboost baths twice aday. he seems to gag on anything i put into his mouth and he throws his head back and makes strange squeaky sounds and sometimes his usual hiss.
ive noticed he has yellow patches on his tongue but no noticeable changes to his saliva? he also has done a wee and a runny poo. (sorry but u need to know)

please help as im really concerned for him.

I am SO sorry to hear about Sheldon. You clearly loved him and wanted to do the best for him.

I, too, wish things had turned out better.

 sheldons unwell????

Sadly Sheldon didnt make it, he died on 19th april in the early hours. i couldnt post earlier as we are absoulutly gutted.

at about 1am he started to make a kind of duck noise, like he had something stuck in his nose or throat. i got up with him and couldnt see anything obvious so i called the vet, when i finally got past all the automated stuff i was told to take him in the morning and the exotic vet would come in specially to see him. but within half an hour his eyes had sunk into his head and he was unresponsive when i touched his legs. i stayed up with him and he never changed how he was and by the morning he had begun to stiffen up so he had passed away.

devestated doesnt come close to how i feel, we have buried him in the garden and planted a bleeding heart in his memory. he will never be forgotton as he had such charactor and definatly will be missed by our family.

thank you all for your advice and posts, i just wish i had found this site sooner so i knew he was really ill and got him to the vets quicker.

hi,
just to let you know sheldon is still no better and is booked into Manor vets on the hagley road tomorrow at 5.10pm.
i was giving him till today (monday) to start picking up and if he hadnt he was going to be seen. so i'll keep you posted.
